Streaming media is media that is consumed (read, heard, viewed) while being delivered.

Streaming media on the internet indicates that the viewer is experiencing the content as it is delivered from the website, rather than as a completely downloaded file being accessed from their own computer's memory. The word stream is also used as a verb, meaning to deliver streaming media.
