Java cookie

Most cookies are HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) cookies – often called web cookies or simply ‘cookies’ for short. Other technologies can perform very similar tasks to cookies even if their mechanisms are significantly different. For example a form of cookies can also be set by a script in a language such as JavaScript, if supported and enabled by the Web browser. Similarly a form of cookie can be set in Flash through Adobe Flash Local Shared Objects. From a data protection perspective, the difference in technologies in general has little significance, instead the key issues are around process and results. For more information, see Cookies.
